Title: Marking up maps
Post by Mark Anderson on Aug 26th, 2007, 7:39am

Mark Bernstein's blog currently has an article about using Tinderbox to mark up web designs using a Map view with the page design as a (background) picture adornment; the idea comes from Tinderbox user Lisa Firke. But what if you want to show this to someone who doesn't have Tinderbox. They could use a demo of Tinderbox but could you export it to HTML, for instance?

Yes, see Scott Price's article about this. Limitations: you won't get Tinderbox link lines, though I figure you won't wont those as he concept above is to use notes to mark up the design image.

Actually, there's a bit more work to do as Tinderbox now has shaped images and Scott's solution predates that. Perhaps someone might like to take this on. Otherwise, all your nice Tinderbox shaped notes will end up as rectangles. There are JavaScript libraries floating around that would allow the drawing of shapes and use of a client side map element could allow that shape to me a click-able link (I see in the above demo only the note title is a link)

A little HTML/Tinderbox learning project for someone wanting to explore Tinderbox, HTML and JavaScript.
