Title: Html exporting to a standard outline format
Post by Rafter T. Sass on Aug 14th, 2008, 8:58pm

How are folks working html export to produce a fairly standard-looking outline format, i.e. Harvard, legal, or what-have-you?

I'm still at the neweigh* level when it comes to exporting, so - I confess - I'm hoping somebody will point me towards a sweet little pre-existing template.

*not even to newbie yet

Perhaps the most fashionable current approach is also the simplest: export to a basic HTML outline and use CSS to style the outline as you prefer.  The template would be something like:

<ul>
     ^justChildren(itemTemplate)
</ul>

where itemTemplate is simpler still:

<li> ^title^ </li>

If you're looking to understand how to alternate letters and numbers at different levels of an outline, the examples and explanation in the relevant section of The Tinderbox Way are helpful.
