Title: How to set the TextExportTemplate attribute
Post by Joshua Brown on May 8th, 2009, 2:20pm

Hi everyone,

This might  be a newbie question, but can I set the TextExportTemplate attribute per note or prototype.  It doesn't seem like you can edit it.  Please let me know!

Josh

Just figured it out.  It looks like you can set it via the NAKAKOJI view

You can set it

a) in Document Preferences (cmd-8) in the Text Export pane

or, as you observed

b) in Nakakoji view

Note that, in general, every note uses the same, default text export template.  That's what you usually want!  If you need to have lots of different text export templates, consider using HTML Export and ^text(plain).

Mark,

I'm looking to have a different template for each prototype I have.  Any tips?

Josh

You want to use HTML Export, then.

HTML Export is a bit of a misnomer -- you can export lots of different formats -- text, XML, OPML, even LaTeX -- through suitable templates.  If you don't want to export markup in your text -- for example, if you're exporting MarkDown to be used by another system -- use ^text(plain) an place of of ^text in your template.
