Title: Checking in- Twitter still work?
Post by RobertW on May 20th, 2010, 8:24pm

Apologies for the Rip van Winkle question

I haven't used the Twitter assistant in a while, but when Tinderbox 5.5 came out, I decided to make a new document for Simplenote and Twitters.

Simplenote works just fine, but the code I had been using for Twitter doesn't. I can't even save the adornment using the OnAdd action that worked before.

Has there been a change, either in Tinderbox or Twitter? Has anyone been able to make a Twitter assistant in 5.5?

A similarly late reply as I overlooked this before. The problem is the URL for the Twitter API has changed, I'll update the demo.

OK, updated file Twitterbox_553.tbx (zipped).

Basically, the location of the API changed and one or two other things needed updating.  Demo does require the user to have a Twitter account.

Hello Everyone,

I tried this today but I could not get it to work. I replaced user:password by my user name and password but it is not doing anything.

This is the first time I try the RunCommand function. Do I have to change something in Mac OSX to allow TB to use the Unix Shell?

Thanks!

Mariano

I *think* the reason is because twitter have changed their API. In other words, the problem is Twitter doesn't allow the sort of access anymore - their rationale being security (though many tech commentators are somewhat sceptical of this). I'll try and take a look at my demo next week and see if I can get it to work with the current Twitter access.

If all you've done is inserted your Twitter username/password in the demo, it's seems most unlikely to be a Tinderbox or command line issue given the above.
