Title: Starter TBX for v5.10.2
Post by Mark Anderson on Mar 18th, 2012, 3:08pm

I've updated my Starter TBX file for v5.10.2, here. A PDF explaining how to set it up as a TB favourite is here.

FWIW, the PDF is an experiment using a interesting new app, Clarify.

I've just updated the TBX (link in post above) with a bit more of an explanation as to how/why you might use some of the features there.

Based on the clarity of your instructions, I'd call the Clarify experiment a success.

I've just updated both files. The TBX now has more info for new users and I've tidied up the maps (originally overlooked as I generally stay in Outline).

The PDF (above) can now also be seen in HTML form here. I've since registered Clarify; neat, quick, light and offers a Mac/Win licence too.

FYI, Clarify is on sale at MacUpdate today for $15 U.S.

Thanks, Steve. I had used a trial version of Clarify that expired earlier this week. Your notice came at just the right time for me.

From starter.tbx Re: "Then select it in Finder and choose "File Info" and tick the 'Stationery File' box. Once done, the file will show within TB File -> Open Recent, below the rule at the bottom of the list as 'Starter'. Simply click it and a copy is opened as a new 'untitled' (i.e. unsaved) document."
Done that, but I don't see it "below the rule..."
Thanks,
Ken

Have you put the stationery pad into the Favorites folder in the Tinderbox support folder?

(You'll also need to quit and reopen Tinderbox, so it will see the change)

Thanks for your reply. I have "starter.tbx" and a few other files in:
~Library/Application Support/Tinderbox/favorites/starter.tbx
I have the "stationery pad" checkbox checked in the files in favorites and have closed and restarted TBX. They still don't show up under File/Open Recent. If I double-click on any of the files in favorites, it will create a copy: "name copy.tbx" and open the copy in TBX. It would be more convenient to have them in Open Recent. I was curious what I didn't have set up right. I'm using 10.8.1 and TBX 5.11.2 on a MacBook Pro. I haven't tried it on my iMac yet.
Thanks,
Ken

Works fine for me (10,8.1/5.11.3b4 -- but I'm pretty sure nothing has changed with respect to Open Recent).

Can't replicate this in v5.11.2 on OS 10.6.8 or 10.7.4.  FWIW, though not strictly necessary, I've updated my tutorial (above) to tell the user to close/reopen TB when adding new starter files in case that helps. Indeed, in my tests just now, on both OSs, new 'favourites' files are detected regardless of whether the app is re-started.

All this would imply Ken has some wider problem (OS permissions errors?) best followed up via support (info@estgate.com).
