Title: Silly Question: Asterisk in HTML export
Post by Dave Rogers on Jul 21st, 2016, 9:50am

I wish to use an asterisk in a fairly conventional way, to denote a footnote. It renders fine in the body, but of course at the foot of the piece, it's first and therefore converts to a bullet and indents the text.

How does one "escape" that processing?
Thanks.

For the footnote, you might add some explicit markup:

<p class="footnote">* This isn't a great solution, but it will suffice for the moment.</p>

Or, just place a space before the asterisk.  That won't matter for the formatted HTML, which ignores the leading space.

Tried adding the space right off the bat, but that doesn't work. Still renders as a bullet.

I'll try the other thing.

Update: The other thing worked. Thanks.
