Path to a note...
Aug 07th, 2007, 4:04pm

Is there someway in an action to get the complete path of a note? That is, if a note A is in a container B, and B is in a container C, then the path to A is "/C/B/A". Is there anyway to easily get this?

Thanks,

Roger.

You can build this fairly easily with an OnAdd action or a rule.  For a rule, something like:

    Path |= $Path(parent)+"/"+$Name;

might work

The markup element ^path uses file names rather than note names, but might do what you need as well.

There is a new page on the wiki - ContextPersistance (http://www.eastgate.com/wiki2/wiki.cgi?ContextPersistance) that describes a strategy for capturing paths in a user attribute.  It assumes a relatively stable information structure rather than a volatile brainstorming structure, but might be what you are looking for.

Hope this helps,

Rosemary
