Search for something like SGR22 (Querying a Set)
Jan 2nd, 2010, 12:05pm

Hi, I have notes with the custom attribute Schools, defined as a set. Some notes have SGR22 in that attribute, some SGR12, some SGR23 etc.
When I make an agent with a search like 'Schools Contains SGR'  I don't get anything. Whatever wildcard I use doesn't work either. Probably a newbie-question  Shocked Thansk for any help.

Searching in sets takes a slightly different approach. See here.

Mark B's away for a few days - I'd have to check with him when he gets back as to whether it is possible to do a partial match, e.g. Schools(SGR), with a Set type attribute as opposed to a String type. My notes indicate partial matching again individual set values isn't possible (but it may be I just don't know the syntax).

Hi, thanks for your reply. I could eventually solve it by checking to see if the attributefield is different from empty. But I cannot get even that to work. Any on that matter? I tried  ;   ()   ""
Thanks for your help - as I said: a newbie.

As I said, as far as know - short of speaking with Mark B who's travelling just now , I don't believe you can test a Set [sic] data type attribute with anything but an exact match for one and only one value . Anything else gives a false result.

I see. So beter make it a string then. Or a number. Ok. Thanks for the help. Saves me a lot of time trying to establish the impossible.

Before changing anything big, if you can wait a few days there might be a better answer on matching set values.

Suppose you have a set $Schools.  The query

     Schools(SGR22)

will be true if any member of Schools is SGR22.  The query

    Schools(SGR22) | Schools (SGR21)

is true if either SGR22 or SGR21 is a member of the set.

The query

    Schools=""

is true if the set of Schools is empty.
