aTbRef template format updated
Jun 04th, 2013, 10:53am
A day without broadband yesterday showed a hitherto unseen flaw in my templates. Working the my local copy of aTbRef - which still called some script from the (then unconnected) web - the pages wouldn't load as they hung waiting for the external Google scripts each page call. Moving these calls to the end of the page fixed the issue. The pages loaded and in-site links worked even though none of the pages were able to load the script.

I know about the suggestion of moving scripts to the foot of the page for page load but in 17 years of writing web pages it's the first time I've seen this failure to load/render a simple HTML page, at all, due to external scripts in the <head> or <body> not loading. Always something new - so a day with no web access not entirely wasted!
