Export to Scrivener in 6.02
Jul 22nd, 2014, 12:53am

I apologize for not yet having figured out elementary procedures in 6.02.  How does one export an outline item and its children from TBX outline view to a Scrivener-readable file?

I suspect you're missing the v5 'Export' button, allowing export of a single note as opposed to the whole file. That aspect of export hasn't yet been added to v6 yet as export is intended for a deeper review in v6.x. For now (v6.0.2) to export a *single* note e.g. OPML, HTML, whatever markup and whether or not other notes's data is included, you need to do this:
  • select the note to be exported's text pane's HTML tab.
  • Use Cmd+A then Cmd+S to select and copy all the code display.
  • Paste the code into a new plain text document in TextEdit or use a code editor like TextWrangler (free), BBEdit.

Otherwise you have to export the whole doc and if not already set up for that it's a bit of a chore to go and turn everything off for export just to emit one page. If you do want to do the later, look at the main HTML inspector tab and the 'Export' and 'Export Children' setting; these still work the same as in the v5 HTML view.

As said above, these seemingly missing feature are so as to avoid engineering features that may likely be removed or significantly altered when the Export process is revisited. The absence of v5's Nakakoji view falls in the same category.
