change height on selected notes applies to all
Oct 21st, 2014, 2:39pm

hi

this is probably a bug -
- i select a few notes (in map view)
- bring up document inspector
- set a height value of 2 or 3
- all* notes in file get the new height

have not checked it for other attributes btw (i.e. width)

so, if this is not a bug, how do i go about applying height to multiple selected notes?

thanks

*except for ones i've manually changed previously

Ah the attribute listings in the Document Inspector control doc-level defaults for an attribute. You've changed the $Heigh inherited by all notes. at least all notes than haven't been resized manual or via action code. This is why the selection has no effect.

In think you were meaning to use the QuickStamp tab of the Properties Inspector to change only the selected items.

Mark Anderson hits the nail on the head; you were changing the default value of $Height, which is inherited by all notes except those which have an explicit height*.

For what you were trying to do, you want to use Quickstamp.

* For most attributes, the default is used only if the note has no assigned value and either the note has no prototype or the prototype has no assigned value.  But $Height is one of a small number of attributes that are intrinsic and not inherited from prototypes.

If it helps, I've written a short article on Inheritance of values within Tinderbox: see http://shoantel.clarify-it.com/d/gyjw3t.
