Join me in a journey. Let me tell you a story — for talking about a journey is storytelling, after all.
I live in a place called Malden, Massachusetts, outside of Boston. Malden used to have shoe factories. Near the end of the last century, a factory owner lost a son in a bank robbery -- the first victim of a bank robbery in America. In his son's memory, the factory owner built a public library.
To design the library building, he hired H. H. Richardson, an American architect who created a fashion of Romanesque arches, solid masonry, and detailing inspired by early Medieval buildings.
