TINDERBOX 11.5: AI

If you choose to use AI, Tinderbox now integrates with Goole Gemini as well as Anthropic Claude. Both can take notes in Tinderbox, and each has a separate section in the Hints folder for their instructions and notes.

Tinderbox keeps you in control. You can exclude AI from any Tinderbox document. You can switch off the AI connection whenever you like, and turn it back on when you want it.

Despite the predations of billionaire princelings, it may well be that recent developments in artificial intelligence rank among the great achievements of our time. The key point is not to use AI to do your work for you. Use AI to take care of boring, repetitive chores that keep you from your real work, and use AI to let you focus on what really matters.

TINDERBOX 11.5: FRENCH AND GERMAN

Tinderbox is now extensively localized in French and German. Gaps remain; Tinderbox is a big system. There are surely blunders. We’ll sort them out.

Readwise.io is a commercial service that aggregates notes and highlights from your Kindle and from other sources. Tinderbox 11.5 supports one-touch download of your Readwise highlights and margin notes.

TINDERBOX 11.5: ZOTERO

Tinderbox now lets you access your online Zotero reference library as you type. Just choose Edit ▸ Insert ▸ Lookup in Zotero and you’re ready to locate whatever reference you need to cite.

The Tinderbox hyperbolic view has been refreshed and enhanced, with better mathematical models and better internal representation. The hyperbolic view now works well in much larger documents, giving you a unique and powerful overview of your link network.
