water were hung close together on the gallery walls. A small crowd clustered around the table on which the French red wine was located. I had never seen her wear a dress before. The surprise with which she greeted me.... the surface of a stream as it ran rapidly down hill.... ______the fire in Jasons' back yard..... In retrospect, the hatred reflected in her yellow brown eyes should have been obvious. Water boiling in an enamel bucket on the top of the stove.... The gas flame curving beneath the pot, and the surface of the Rhine river______ as it ran grandly by the island called Mainz-Kastel..... It was remarkable how she managed to convey these things with only pencil and paper.
